What is Truth?

Quod verum est
What is truth?
Truth: one of the three touchstones of God. The other two being goodness and beauty. Truth can never be attained or contained by humanity; it is an essence, so to speak of God. That which is a component of Perfection (being in itself perfect), it is not possible to be possessed by anything less than Perfection itself. When man speaks of Truth in any manner other than speaking of God, he is merely pursuing a blurred, colorless shadow;  this is all man can hope to see. Furthermore, what man describes when he speaks of Truth is really just a truncated version, and what he wishes it to be. Truth on mans terms: as if he indeed were HE.

Man being what he is cannot attain God. Truth (small “t”), being mans construct is not Truth- which is one of the essences of He Who Is. How is Truth arrived at? It is not; for it is not a destination. It is a Person. Truth is not deduced, determined, or even compounded, for Truth IS, just as God IS. Therefore truth being True can only be approximately expressed. We approximate Truth with Fact.
Fact is an abstraction of truth, as a grain of sand is an abstraction of a wide beach. We abstract from Truth certain characteristics that attempt to describe it as well as can be done. If we say an apple is a red fruit… what indeed did we say? – We described  Facts of an apple; not the Truth of what an apple indeed IS. Shakespeare was explaining the aspects of Truth when he stated that “a rose by any other name still smells as sweet”. The name of a rose is one of the Facts of its Truth, yet only in the English language. A Fact is a mere component which contains and points to Truth itself. IT IS NOT TRUTH AT ALL–THOUGH IT MAY BE USED AS A WAYPOINT TO TRUTH.
This is critical- and while being so critical to rational thought the misunderstanding of what fact is, has become almost forgotten by modern man. Truth being the Object can only be glimpsed by Fact which is objective. Fact is not objective if it contains polling data, opinion,  presupposition, rumor or political considerations– it is not fact– it is… well it is mostly what you see paraded around today as Truth. It is an agenda wrapped in filmy gauze of lies and/or wishful thinking. One cannot know a fact, if one does not understand what it is, how it is arrived at, or even how to spell it.

Being a vital component of modern science, facts have been turned into the new communion of saints in the scientific realm. Facts being abstractions of truth, in the scientific method are repeatable; i.e. immutable when in identical circumstances. However, what indeed is a Fact today? When consensus , opinion, or anything else masquerades as Fact, this new “saintly communion”, becomes Legion.  “Modern Science”is a term used (by those wearing its priestly robes) as the New Catechism for Truth.

Where indeed is the crater of Lucifer, but in the reeking halls of post modern academia? For he has certainly fallen from his seraphic perch among the heavens.
Deceit walks among us, yet it is still possible for even the most innocent of us to astound those considered the most subtle and sublime… all that is needed is a good hard, honest look at the FACTS, and the fortitude to shout, “The Emperor has no clothes!”
